Upon the Directive of the Summit and to set off the process of attaining the goal of an East African Monetary Union (EAMU), the EAC contracted the European Central Bank (ECB) to work with national experts from the five EAC Central Banks to undertake a comprehensive study on the proposed EAC Monetary Union.
